  4. Data Type • Identifies the type of data that can be entered into a field • Text, number, or currency • Arithmetic operation = number

  5. Table • The basic unit of an Access database • Must have at least one in a database, but it is common to have more

  6. Field • A specific piece of information within a record • Example: Name, Address, ID Number

  7. Record • Contains information about a person, product, or event • One row in a database

  8. Row Selector • The small box or bar, when you click it, selects the entire row, indicating the field you currently are describing

  9. View Button • Used to go between different views such as datasheet view back to design view

  10. Datasheet View • When the table is represented as a collection of rows and columns called a data sheet

  11. Design View • View that allows you to create and set up a table • Where you enter field names, set the primary key, choose the data type, and change the field size

  12. Split Form • Combines both a datasheet and form, thus giving the advantage of both views

  13. Report • A list of fields and records of specific information that is designated through a wizard

  14. Queries • Questions to a database

  15. Default Field Size • (Field size unless you change it in design view) • 225 characters
