  4. Value = Number Label = Words Row = Horizontal Cell = (E8) column and row meet Column = Vertical

  5. Formatting Before AFTER Formatting is exactly the same as formatting in a Word document EXCEPT… You can change the column width… Put your mouse on the line between the column letters, like A and B, then double click. The column will widen or shrink depending on the information you have put in it. You can select the whole spreadsheet (square around it)… click it You can select a whole row (1 stars)… click the number of the row You can select whole columns (2 stars)… click the letter of the column You can add dollar signs easily Highlight the cell(s) you want to have $, then click the $ button (triangle by it)

  6. SAVE your work!!! (H:) Excel Project Keep track of how many pages you have. IF you want to print Only print ONE page!

  7. Formula Bar = where Mrs. Cireddu can see if you REALLY wrote formulas This is a formula after you press enter. This is a formula BEFORE you press enter. Formulas ALWAYS begin with an equals sign = Formulas consist of a column letter and a row number, NOT just numbers!

  8. Click on the arrow next to the Auto Sum button to pick the function you would like to use. If you are using Auto Sum, just click it (no need for the arrow) Highlight the cells you want to have included in the function

  9. Graphing • Select the data you want to include in your graph by clicking and dragging over it (from the center of the cell, NOT the edge). • In order to get two separated cells selected at once drag on the first area and then let go of your mouse, then press Ctrl on your keyboard while dragging the second set of information you want in your graph. (This is what makes the labels appear even when you skip rows in the above example.) • Go to the Insert tab and select the type of graph you want to use. • Once the graph is entered treat it as you would a picture to manipulate it. • Change the colors of the graph however you want, but don’t have it all one color.

  10. Finished Projects • When you have completed your project… • Save your work! • Print IF you want a copy to take home • Make sure you select Page(s) From: 1 To: 1 ONLY!!! • Go to Typing Time • Mrs. Cireddu will take over your computer or grade your project outside of class time • Don’t freak out if your computer is taken over because the formulas and function will need to be checked on the computer screen.
