  4. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME! MADE OF: • Nine bundles of microtubules (three per bundle) arranged in a ring. FUNCTION: • Duplicates during mitosis in animal cells • Forms spindle apparatus during cell division • Makes cilia and flagella • Organizes the centrosome MISCELLANEOUS: • Found only in animal cells, near the nucleus in the centrosome. • Plant cells are able to go through mitosis without centrioles. • Sperm cells contain a pair of centrioles; eggs have none. • They are found to be positioned at right angles to each other.
