  1. Particles and Fields Package Weekly Team Meeting, SSL May 24 2010 Dave Curtis, PFP PM

  2. PFP Peer Reviews All peer reviews completed successfully except MAG Tomorrow @ GSFC RFAs & reports mostly delivered Next step Peer review leads need to assign people to respond to actions Actions and recommendations should get some kind of response Response might be ‘Yes we did that’, ‘Yes we will do that by XXX’, ‘Here is why we don’t need to do that’, etc. Responses to Actions (not recommendations) shall be provided to the review chair before IPDR (preferably before we make charts) Better yet is to get concurrence from chair before IPDR. Need to present peer review results at IPDR

  3. Documents Part of preparing for PDR includes delivering documents to MIS, typically 30 days before PDR Entrance criteria for PDR being tracked by the review team Many documents have been submitted MAIP, RMP, CMP, SEMP, WBS, FMDD, PHA, FMEA, LLL, SWR Some need to be delivered shortly Instrument specifications (last call for changes) SDP (Harvey) MPL (Turin) PIL (Curtis) Verification Plans, I&T Plans, Env. plans (Curtis) SAR (Curtis) IPDR package (10 days before IPDR)

  4. IPDR Planning June 14-16 at SSL Ends by 2PM on 6/16 since review team needs to fly to LASP System level, ‘top down’ review not as detailed as peer reviews Block diagrams, not schematics Content must conform to GSFC-STD-1001 Content of instrument sections should follow a similar pattern Each section needs to conclude with the assertion that we are ready to proceed to Phase C/D.

  5. PDR Agenda, Day 1

  6. PDR Agenda, Day 2,3

  7. IPDR Instrument Section Content Driving/Science Requirements Summary Instrument Heritage? Instrument block diagram(s) Optics/Detector/Sensor & simulations Subassembly electronics block diagrams Mechanical Mechanisms Resource Requirements Peer Review RFA summary & closure plans EM/FM fab & test plans Schedule Note: Currently thermal is separate - does that make sense?

  8. Proposed Instrument Outline (LPW) LPW Organization and Programmatics – 10 minutes Org Chart Science and measurement overview – includes LPW, EUV, accommodations, concerns, items we want the review panel to know with respect LPW – 20 minutes EUV – 20 minutes Systems design – 20 minutes LPW/EUV - Block diagram Subsystem/Circuit Functions Interfaces – signal, data, power Requirements flowdown Document/Requirements Tree Documentation Status Requirements management process Resource Status Power Mass CBEs, margins, and tracking ECO status including ECO numbers in MIS Heritage/Inheritance Table Design Status – 40 minutes LPW booms and Preamps – current design, thermal, status, trades, parts LPW Electronics (BEB/DFB) – current design, status, trades, parts EUV – current design, thermal, status, trades, parts Summary – 10 minutes Schedule Risk Management Status & Plans

  9. GSFC-STD-1001 Coverage GSFC-STD-1001A describes what should be in reviews including PDR Author of GSFC-STD-1001A is on our review team Appendix C-2 of GSFC-STD-1001A lists the evaluation factors for an ‘element PDR’ such as our IPDR I have extracted that appendix and allocated those criteria to presentations Note odd numbering scheme is as it exists in GSFC-STD-1001

  18. Layouts (SSL) Designs should be nearing being ready for EM layout If not, we should have a side discussion of when you will be ready We only have 1 in-house layout person and 20 layouts to do in the next month or two We need to bring in out-of-house layout capability We need to decide which boards need to stay in house Daniele working the logisitics of when boards will be ready to layout and who will do them

  19. Parts (SSL) We need to start putting together parts lists for each board Active parts lists provided to GSFC needs to be maintained Passive parts lists need to be started so we can start ordering parts for the EM Each board designer needs to provide a BOM to Daniele Daniele will collect and work with Jorg to build a database Tracking existing Active list and new Passive list Designers need to provide detailed part information so a high rel part number can be generated Package (surface mount, though hole, etc) Tolerance Power, Voltage Thermal characteristics Jorg/Daniele will work with board designers to collect information
