  2. How our exchange was organised • Initial face-to-face inception meetings to discuss relevant issues • 2 online progress meetings using Zoom and Edmodo • Final outcomes-sharing meeting • Communication, discussions and file-sharing via Edmodo • Meetings organised via Doodle polling.

  3. Modelling use of digital tools for collaboration & organisation • Edmodo online discussion, messaging & file sharing • Use of Doodle polls to organise meeting dates/times

  5. City of Wolverhampton College (English) • “Kahoot!” is used as a consolidation tool • Collaborative learning is done using Padlet e.g. learners put together own revision guides via Padlet • Learners use various Android Apps e.g. ESOL learners often use translators, vocabulary builders and grammar apps on their mobiles.

City of Wolverhampton College (English) • Google Classroom is used for setting and monitoring written tasks and for sharing documents. • Links to video tutorials are shared via Google Classroom. • PGCE students are encouraged to incorporate a blended approach in some of their practice. • All members of staff are taking part in online training related to the new Functional Skills specs.

City of Wolverhampton College (English) • Click here to hear Ray Truby, English Teacher, describe how his PGCE students use Padlet to create their own colour-coded revision guide. • Ray also describes how this asset has the dual purpose of helping his team tailor course provision to meet learner needs.

  8. Coventry College • Supporting teaching and apprenticeship staff • Demonstrating ways to increase the interactivity of Moodle rather than using it as a repository • Working to create a set of standards for digital learning provision across the curriculum • Recruiting a group of Super Users to help guide digital learning provision • Working towards greater inclusion of BLC resources within courses.

Coventry College • Essential resources • Current focus primarily on Moodle migration • Really good uptake on BLC SCORM packages • Currently experimenting with SmartVLE (http://www.smartapprentices.com) to provide a holistic blended learning package for apprenticeship candidates • This will take learners from initial Functional Skills assessments through the length of their course.

Heart of Worcestershire College Learner Engagement • Learner engagement has been the main theme throughout, due to evidence of learners participating, but not necessarily engaging, in blended learning. Consideration has been given to nudges of engagement to implement them into future blended learning courses. Including the following strategies: • Context and relevance • Collaborative tools • User generated content • Celebrating successes • Star ratings and availability to place instant comments • Links have been made to how these can be used in an educational setting.

Heart of Worcestershire College Learner Engagement Whilst looking at the organisation as a whole, the college’s Ruth Richardson also looked at the blended courses she runs within Initial Teacher Training. The Learner Engagement Strategy Template (Kallidus) was used to look at blended learning courses within ITT and to identify areas that need to be developed. As part of the process, nudges of engagement were identified that could be used to increase learner engagement.

  12. Heart of Worcestershire College Learner Engagement • Ruth has shared with colleagues: • Details of ETF’s Enhance Digital Teaching Platform • Details of the Duke of York iDEAprogramme • which were both introduced during discussions on the Professional Exchange.

  13. Lifetime Training Skills Survey & Personalised CPD • Lifetime has: • Launched a digital skills & experience survey • Launched a curriculum & learning technologies quality standard and evaluation processes • Provided webinar training and support to curriculum staff • Developed a suite of digital skills and personal development resources for learners based on the resources shared during the Exchange including the DTPF and Enhance modules.

  14. PTP Training, Walsall • Following the Blended Exchange, Richard Kendrick, MED Curriculum Manager is now putting in place • Video ‘how-to guides’ for staff • Video ‘how-to guides’ for learners • Guides will explain how to access and use the e-portfolio system and log the 20% off the job training hours for Apprenticeships • This will be fully in place for August 2019 • PTP are also exploring how to bring more technology into the classroom, with some tutors now using Padlet and Kahoot more regularly following examples demonstrated during Exchange meetings.

  15. PTP Training, Walsall – Mentoring & Coaching Aims for the coming year using resources shared during the Exchange: • Develop an effective induction and mentoring scheme for new teachers • Will mean a heavy buy-in from the company and although they will see the benefit, our staffing
