  1. Starter Inform, Explain, Describe Imagine, Explore, Entertain Can you remember the 12 different writing styles? Analyse, Review, Comment Persuade, Argue, Advise

  2. The Writing Paper L.O. To identify PAF. To assess our own strengths and weaknesses. To revise the different writing styles.

  3. What are you being marked on?

  4. What are you being marked on? • Spelling • Punctuation • Right level of formality? • Aware of audience? • Correct format? • Aware of purpose?  Right techniques used?

  5. What are your common mistakes? In your book, write down two mistakes you commonly make in your writing. Suggestions: • I forget capital letters. • I use commas incorrectly. • I find spelling difficult. • I don’t use any complex punctuation. • My sentences are too long

  6. Areas of expertise! Now write down one or two things you are good at in your writing! Suggestions: • My vocabulary is impressive. • I know how to use SO VAST to make my writing interesting. • I am good at spelling. • I know how to use semicolons.

  7. Match up the writing style with its correct techniques! Inform Anecdotes, honest but tactful Advise SO VAST Persuade Facts and opinions, rhetorical questions, counter argument Argue Address the reader as you, link paragraphs with connectives Imagine, explore, entertain Facts and opinions, rhetorical questions
