  2. GM_SSM_007_SPI_01 SUPPLIER PACKAGING STANDARD Pg. 2 of 12 REFERENCES: GM_SSM_002_SPS Supplier Shipment Routing Instruction GM_SSM_011_SPB “Specification of printed circuit board supply” Note: In case of need, please require the standards belonging to Datalogic at your reference person in the Datalogic Purchasing Department. GLOSSARY: • External Package - The outer most container used for shipping parts and assemblies to Datalogic group from suppliers. • Internal Package - The immediate container (cartons, plastic bags, reel, etc.) which contains and protects parts and assemblies. SCOPE: Internal packages containing parts and assemblies received by Datalogic from suppliers. External package requirements are specified in GM_SSM_002_SPS Supplier Shipment Routing Instruction GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Once a package configuration has been adopted for a particular part/assembly, continue using it for succeeding shipments unless specifically requested by Datalogic to change it. The quantity per container, of a given part must remain constant. If multiple containers are used on the shipment the quantity of parts in each container must be the same, except for the last box which may be the remaining quantity of the lot. The packaging is expected to provide protection against mechanical shock, deformation or electrostatic discharge in the case of ESD sensitive components during shipment to Datalogic and during storage and handling up to the first production operation after receipt, provided the package has not been opened or damaged by Datalogic For strength and function, smaller containers are generally superior to large half or full pallet size containers, and are preferred. Boxes/containers must be securely closed. Deviations to these requirements will be considered on an individual part basis and must be requested sufficiently in advance of shipment to allow evaluation. 3. GM_SSM_007_SPI_01 SUPPLIER PACKAGING STANDARD Pg. 3 of 12 PART SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: 1.1COVER, HOUSING, ENCLOSURE, CASE CHASSIS • Parts or assemblies with protrusions or critical surfaces must be individually wrapped. • Parts that are painted, plated, polished or otherwise have finished surfaces must be wrapped with foam, cellulose wadding, bagged, separated or otherwise protected from scratching and abrasion. Separation with non-abrasive material is the most desired means, since it reduces packaging waste removal in our plants and reduces unpacking labor. • Protect from bending, denting or cracking. If the parts have attachments or projections, provide additional padding or blocking to prevent damage. Cells, sleeves or corrugated separators are accepted methods. • Parts must be snug in the package to prevent movement that can cause damage to the parts or lead to package failure. • Thin profile parts often must be packed on edge to prevent warping and to provide ease of unpacking. In this orientation they are unstable, thus a tight pack is required. In some cases, additional bottom reinforcement is required to keep thin panels from working through bottom. 1.2BEARING, ROTOR • Parts subjected to corrosion must be adequately lubricated or preserved to prevent degradation. • Parts coated with lubricant or preservative shall be wrapped in a grease proof wrapper or placed on a plastic tube which will not absorb or leak the preservative and will prevent its absorption by the shipping container. One of the following interior packaging methods shall be acceptable as applicable, or as specified. • ROLL WRAP: Roll-wrap parts in Kraft, VCI, grease-proof paper or other equivalent wrap (i.e., plastic tube) and arrange uniformly in intermediate or shipping containers. • INDIVIDUAL SEPARATION: Parts may be individually separated by means of cushion wrap, corrugated or chipboard partitions or equivalent as required maintaining the integrity of the part. Skin or blister packs are not desirable, because of increased unpacking labor. • BULK IN BAG: Non-critical parts, 8/10 cm dia. or less, may be bulk packed in plastic or cloth bag. Bags must be of sufficient strength to prevent bursting of bag and spillage of parts enclosed. Bag must be identified with part number and quantity per bag. The weight of each bag of parts must not exceed 2 kg. 1.3STANDOFF, BAR, BUSHING, SPRING, SPACER, RIVET, HARDWARE IN GENERAL • When possible, pack in even quantities. Cartons or other interior container shall be uniform in size. • Cloth or plastic bags, when used, shall be securely closed to prevent spillage and shall be of sufficient length to permit opening and resealing. Bags must always be over packed in shipping containers. • Springs whose configuration allows entanglement that requires separation by hand must be supplied, separated and arranged on an adhesive coated board of sufficient tack to prevent shifting and entanglement of spring during shipping and handling. Board must be layered horizontally in a corrugated shipping box. • Parts subject to corrosion deterioration shall be enclosed in appropriate corrosion inhibitor or barrier material, or provided with equivalent protection. Based on template gm_ssm_001_sst_01 GM_SSM_007_SPI_01 "Datalogic Proprietary & Confidential Information"

Bags shall be of sufficient strength to hold the quantities contained therein without bursting and bag weight must not exceed 2 kg. • Parts that are difficult to maintain in their designed configuration may be held together by tabs or by a closer cutting without removing the surrounding material. This method can only be used if its use does not affect function, design intent or dimension of the part. • SEALS AND "O" RINGS: Seals and "O" rings shall be packed in a manner to prevent permanent creases, twisting, and change in shape and size. Small seals and O-ring may be bulk packed in bags. When necessary to maintain shelf-life requirements or to prevent atmospheric contamination, appropriate heat sealed bags, or envelopes shall be utilized. The shelf life shall be included in the container marking. 1.7PHOTO DETECTOR, FUSE, RELAY, SWITCH, CRYSTAL OSCILLATOR • Critical portions, such as external threads, openings, shall be protected with plastic caps, sleeves or plugs. • Exposed wire leads may lie coiled to a radius of not more than 25 mm at any point and shall not be bent at point of entry. Rigid terminals or leads shall not be bent. • Assemble or attach necessary hardware to each part, or seal accessories in a bag and include with the part. • Unplated metals and metals subject to corrosion or tarnish shall be adequately protected to prevent degradation. • Individual containers shall be designed with closures suitable for opening and re-closing without damage to part or package. • Devices shall be packed in multiple containers or be packaged individually. Multiple containers are preferred. Parts should be packed in uniform quantities. Based on template gm_ssm_001_sst_01 GM_SSM_007_SPI_01 "Datalogic Proprietary & Confidential Information"
