  4. 8th Grade Field Trip InformationTransportation – MYP UnitMrs. Spavins • A letter and permission slip went home Tuesday of this week. • FOR – transportation to Gilcrease Museum, Tulsa Air and Space Museum, and Booker T. Washington.

  5. More on Transportation • This is for the Transportation Unit that culminates in the SS Wildcat unit with cardboard boat floating at Booker T. Washington, tentatively scheduled for October 15. • We will look for parent volunteers when it is closer to time for cutting cardboard and helping with assembly.

  6. Transportation Events • We will be looking for parents to help with cutting apart the cardboard and constructing boats before the SS Wildcat • 8th Grade Science is also working on organizing a Pinewood Derby type event during our speed and acceleration studies later in the semester. • We will be looking for ways to help students cut out their cars if they do not have access to parent help with cutting the wood.

  7. Community ServiceMrs. Anderson • As part of the Positive Consequence field trip that we often schedule at the end of the school year, we will be including community service hours. • 10 Hours of community service required by the MYP program are due by May 3, 2011. • Additional hours of community service are due for NJHS students • First Campus Clean: September 11, 9am – 11 am

  8. Energy Policy / Dress CodeMr. Bishop • Tulsa Public Schools has initiated a vigorous energy savings policy which requires teachers to keep temperatures high in summer and low in winter. • This may require your students to wear sweaters, sweatshirts or long-sleeved shirts. • Please be aware: NO HOODIES ARE ALLOWED AT CARVER FROM 8:30 – 3:30

  9. Additional Dress Code/Energy Concerns • Just an FYI – logos on clothing is against Carver’s dress code policy, this year, last year, next year. Some students have convinced their parents this is not the case. It is. Please don’t purchase clothes for school which have a logo on them other than the Carver Spirit items, or your students will be asked not to wear them and begin the process of consequences for dress code violations.
