  2. What? • NaviPillay asked the Government troops and the “red shirt” protesters to negotiate to end the violence. NattawutSaikuar had said “if the government stops firing, he will call all protesters back to the Ratchaprasong site”, however the government said “ the security forces are not firing at civilians”. • The government said that protesters had to leave their camp by 3pm, Monday or go to jail. How- ever it appears that 3,000 people have stayed.

  3. Who? • The parties involved are the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, NaviPillay, the Thailand Government and Red Shirt protesters. Thai Government troops were also involved. • NattawutSaikuarwas the representative of the Red Shirts.

  4. Where? • Bangkok, Thailand and the outlying areas of the city. • Thailand is located in South East Asia. The nearby countries are Burma (Myanmar) to the west , Cambodia to the southeast, Laos to the northeast, and Malaysia to the south.

  5. When? • The violence began in April 2010 and culminated on May 17, 2010 in a series of explosions.

  6. Why this happened? • The Red Shirt Protesters are against the Government. • The Red Shirt Protesters are demanding the return of the former Prime Minister.
