  2. Outline • Overview of LIPI • LIPI & ALICE MoU • Team member ALICE-Indonesia • Execution and Current Status • Data Center & LIPI GRID • Future Plans • Internship Program at CERN

  3. Overview of LIPIhttp : //www.lipi.go.id LIPI (LembagaIlmuPengetahuan Indonesia - The Indonesian Institute of Sciences) is the governmental authority for science and research in Indonesia. It consists of 47 research centers in the fields ranging from social to natural sciences. • Science and technology development • Geotechnology • Oceanography • Limnology • Metallurgy • Biology • Biotechnology • Biomaterial • Physics • Chemistry • Informatics • Electrical engineering and mechatronics • Electronics and telecommunication • Social and cultural sciences • Economy • Population studies • Politics • Regional resources • Calibration,Instrumentation and Metrology • Quality control and testing Sources : tamplin.com, Wikipedia, bkpi.lipi.go.id

  4. LIPI-ALICE MoU MoU between LIPI and ALICE has been conducted on October 21, 2013 in LIPI office, Jakarta, Indonesia.

  5. Team member ALICE-Indonesia • Team member on Physics, Electronics, and Informatics.

  6. Execution and Current Status Execution • Procurement and installation for LIPI Grid • HPC Workshop with ICTP Trieste • HPC Workshop for students • IC3INA conference 2013 • Recruitment of new staffs • Learning • VO Box is installed, Host Certificates, Grid system installation with assigned certificates, Procurement Current Status

  10. Future Plans

  11. Internship Program at CERN (1)Work and organization structure organization

  12. Internship Program at CERN (2)August – October 2014 Work Plans -LatchezarBetev RifkiSadikin, TaufiqWirahman, FurqonMensan (hosted by Offline) a) Bringing the two Indonesian Grid sites into operation b) Completion of basic implementation for glexec in AliEn c) HEPSpec profiling of the Grid sites. Eventually prepare a more general profiling tool for site performance. d) CAF on demand (with Dario Berzano) e) HLT for offline processing - implementation of AliEn module for virtual site submission, validation on the HLT test farm SuharyoSumowidagdo, DidiRosiyadi, Nova HadiLetriandoko (hosted by DAQ)  a) Dataflow simulation facility (with IosifLegrand, SylcainChapeland) b) Benchmarking of TPC (Time Projection Chamber) clustering agorithm on CPU, comparison with HLT (The High-Level Trigger ) implementation (with HLT experts) c) Data Acquisition (DAQ): ALICE equipment used to read and store huge experimental data. Advanced Algorithms for Data Compression and Signal Processing are embedded in this device. d) Handling very large data acquisition and compression.

  13. Internship Program at CERN (3)Detail Work Plans- DAQ • ALICE’s DAQ system receives raw data from the sensors with rate 1 Terabyte/s. This rate needs to be reduced to 10 Gigabyte/s. Therefore it will require some works on: • Data compression; Parallel processing and parallel algorithms; and Multi-core CPU and Graphical Processing Unit (GPU)

  14. Internship Program at CERN (4)Detail Work Plans-DAQ • The detail work plans for hosted by DAQ on advanced algorithms for data compression and signal processing. • Lossless and Lossy Compression • Various of data compression techniques, such as Run-length encoding, Burrows-wheeler transform, Move to front transform, Arithmetic coding and Huffman coding, Discrete Cosine Transform and Discrete Wavelet Transform • Optimization method, such as Genetic Algorithm, Particle Swarm Optimization and combination between or among various of data compression techniques.
