Imperatives • We use imperatives for different reasons, such as telling people what to do, giving instructions and advice, making recommendations and suggestions, and for making offers. • This chapter you will be giving instructions/ directions. • Example: • Walk up Speedway Blvd. • Turn right • Drive along Second Avenue to River Street

Drive down Park Avenue to 5th Street and turn left. Drive along 5th Street and you’ll see the zoo on the right, between the post office and the clinic. Drive along 5th Street to Park Avenue and turn right. Drive up Park Avenue and you’ll see the hospital on the left, next to the shoe store.

  15. Directions In class: • You will need to draw a map from ASDB to your house. • Then you will write the directions.

  16. Example: 5th Avenue Drive along Speedway to I-10 and turn right. Drive up I-10 to 22nd Street and turn left. Drive along 22nd Street to 5th Avenue and turn left. Drive down 5th Ave and you will see my house on the right. 22nd Street x Speedway I-10 ASDB
