  3. Methane simulations • Methane lowest model layer forced to observed concentrations. Global monthly atmospheric methane loss (CH4+OH) derived. • Methane emissions: Bousquet (inversion Nature 2005) (Results from similar simulations with all models in hymn database spring 2008) Emissions scaled to assure close balance (avoid drift over time in methane): Bousquet=Loss=494 Tg/yr 3. Methane emissions: Anthropogenic: IIASA, ”Biogenic”: LPJ, Biomass burning: GFED Also scaled: IAASA+LPJ+GFED= Bousquet=Loss Global total emissions in 2 and 3 equal. But different distributions and amounts regionally
