  7. Governor’s Task Force Acting Governor Richard J. Codey established the Delaware River Flood Mitigation Task Force after two successive floods in September of 2004 and April 2005 caused widespread damage in New Jersey river towns along 115 miles of the river from Trenton to Montague.

Delaware River Basin Comprehensive Flood Risk Management Interim Feasibility Study for New Jersey (aka “Del Comp, NJ”) • General authorization found in WRDA 1986 • Specific authorization provided by Congress in July 2005 • USACE Reconnaissance Report completed in May 2006 • NJDEP signed on as Feasibility Study project partner in July 2006 • Study goals: • Establish the potential for flood damage through the year 2065 in 16 New Jersey municipalities • Identify opportunities for, and feasible methods of, flood risk management and related ecosystem restoration in the study area through the year 2065
