Brent Coley Each day, a student in Brent’s classroom is assigned to be the Roving Reporter.  His or her job is to write short article about what took place in class that day. ColeyCast is Room 34's very own podcast! Recorded by the students, each broadcast highlights some of the exciting things we're learning in our classroom. Mr. Coley has created specially designed PowerPoint presentations that can serve as color flash cards to help you review some of the concepts studied in class.   4. Kathy Cassidy Kathy teaches a class of 6 year olds in Moose Jaw, Canada who are inviting the world into their classroom to help them learn.   In her class they call fluency “reading smoothly”. She had her students each write about their reading & then recorded each of them reading a couple of pages and posted it online.  Kathy has also established blogging buddies, where pre-teachers in college read & comment on her student’s blogs.  This enables the students to receive feedback as well as help the soon-to-be teachers see ways of using blogging with their classrooms.   5. Maria Knee Each child has their own blog, off Maria’s blog. They type entries every couple of weeks. If they have a photo they take of some work [they can post it] or do a project. They type like they write—representing the sounds they know with letters they know. The only keyboarding worked on is encouraging them to use two hands for the two sides of the keyboard. Kathy Shields Small Voices podcast: produced by Kathy Shields, as a kindergarten teacher and now as a 3rd grade teacher, she experimented with podcasting, a Promethean interactive whiteboard, student blog posting, & purchased 10 OLPC’s for her classroom & overseas. School: Creek View Elementary Grade: K & 3 Location: Alpharetta, GA

  7. Carol Broos The fourth graders start on Sound Studio and the keyboard to record their stories. They compose music and produce projects that involve multi-media. Students comment on each other’s compositions and share files within the school. Sunset Ridge just started a district-wide podcast website www.pod29.com where students and teachers can post podcasts on the web.   8. Allanah King Working primarily with 9 – 10 year olds, Allanah King encourages her students to blog, podcast, skype, and create wikis. Allanah tests out each tool herself first to become acquainted with possibilities. The school blog also serves as a portal for parent communication.
