  6. SAFETEA-LU • Safe, Accountable, Flexible, andEfficient Transportation Equity Act - A Legacy for Users • Provides for $286.5 Billion over 6 years • Provides incentive money in section 410 for impaired driving programs • Expired September 30, 2009 – now on a continuing authorization

Criteria for Section 410 Funding • Low fatality Rate – Alcohol Fatality Rate of <=.5/100vmt, OR • Meet 5 of the following (in 2008 and 2009): • High Visibility Enforcement • Prosecution and Adjudication Outreach • Increase the Rate of BAC Testing in Fatal Crashes • Sanctions for BAC’s over .15 • DWI Courts • Underage Drinking Prevention • Administrative License Revocation Program • Comprehensive Self-sustaining Impaired Driving Prevention Program

  14. Identifying Resources In Your Community • Identify organizations, institutions, businesses in your jurisdiction • Inventory what resources each might contribute to your drug court program • Identify who is responsible for outreach • Team involvement is essential

  15. Methods For Connecting With The Community • Create steering committee to formalize linkages and offer continuing oversight • Conduct DWI court education programs

  16. Quality Assurance • Identify barriers to successful operation • Establish standards for review of programs • Monitor use, quality and effectiveness of programs and services
