  3. 1. Cornell Off-Campus Courses 12 international courses 8 domestic courses There are currently 20 off-campus courses scheduled for year 2012/2013.

  5. Cornell Off-Campus Courses Domestic • 2 courses in the Wilderness Field Station, Boundary Waters. • 5 courses in the newly opened McLennan Center. • 1 physical education course in Arkansas.

McLennan Center • Located in the heart of the Lakeview neighborhood, less than one mile from Wrigley Field and two blocks from Belmont El stop, served by the red, brown and purple lines. • Residence space for up to 15 students and 1 faculty apartment. • Classroom space with projector and wifi located on second floor. • Classes scheduled in the McLennan Center for 2012/2013: • Communities in Chicago • Theatre and the Arts • Advanced Photography • Foundations of Education • Financial Management

School for International Training • Rigorous academic programs in 50 countries. • Field-based, experiential approach to learning. • Cultural immersion through fieldwork, intensive language classes, and urban and rural homestays with local families • A small group of students in each program, supported by SIT faculty and staff, homestay families, in-country experts, and community members • Access to SIT’s extensive local resources and networks

  11. Central College Abroad • Programs in Merida, Yucatan, Grenada, Spain, Paris, France and Vienna, Austria. • Classes offered in local languages and in English. • Internships and service-based learning offered in local languages and English.

The Washington Center • Internships in many fields of study and interest including government, nonprofit and business arenas, as well as many others that may partially overlap with them—the worlds of media and communications, science and technology, law and criminal justice, and international affairs • Academic seminars which involve undertaking experiential fieldwork, visiting topic-related sites and exploring relevant texts that give insight into students’ studies. • Past speakers include: Sam Donaldson, ABC News Husain Haqqani, Ambassador to Pakistan Arianna Huffington, Huffington Post Brian Lamb, C-SPAN Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs

  13. Exchange Programs • Ewha and Sookmyung Women’s Universities, Seoul, South Korea Both Ewha and Sookmyung offer summer school opportunities for both men and women to study Korea more in depth. Courses are offered in a variety of categories (history, art, literature, economics, medicine, etc.). Cornell-approved students do not pay tuition for either program, but are responsible for airfare, visa, and (in some cases) accommodation costs. • Exchange Program in Northern Ireland Students may apply for a semester or year-long exchange with one of these Northern Irish Universities through the Irish-American Scholars Program. Students may take classes in business, marketing, computing, education, performing arts, communication and Irish studies. Scholarships • Location/program-specific scholarships & grants • Federal & State money • Cornell need-based aid (for Cornell-affiliated programs only) • Levy Fund • Class of ’55 Study Abroad Fund Deadline for Cornell scholarships and applications for Cornell affiliated programs is December 3rd 2012.

  16. Other Opportunities • Gilman Scholarship • The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. • Average award is $4,000. • Applications for study in Fall 2013 open mid-January and are due March 5, 2013. • Critical Language Scholarship • The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program offers fully-funded summer language institutes for U.S. university students and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. • Students of diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply. • Participants are expected to continue their language study beyond the scholarship period, and later apply their critical language skills in their future professional careers. • Check the Off-Campus Studies Facebook page for additional scholarship opportunities as they arise.
