Deloitte-UConn Actuarial Center • Background • Partnership between Deloitte and the University of Connecticut. • Combines the academic resources of UConn with the professional expertise of Deloitte to undertake education, training and applied actuarial research projects. • How It Works • Center projects involve a team of Deloitte professionals, UConn students and faculty members. • Deloitte contracts with the clients, and in turn funds students and faculty members via the Center. • Faculty project members receive Research Fellowships, while students receive Research Associateships and independent study credits. • Projects to Date • Life Settlements Study sponsored by Mass Mutual, CitiGroup and Prudential. • Mortality Study for Phoenix Life on acquired closed block of Universal Life business. • Property & Casualty pricing model for foreign reinsurer on short term excess-of-loss liabilities.

2. International Opportunities • Establishment of Actuarial & Risk Management Centers of Excellence at key universities in Tanzania, India and Malaysia.
