Mathematics options: Calculator active must be administered before calculator inactive and they must be administered on consecutive days OR Both mathematics assessments may be administered on the same day. Note: Grade 8 mathematics is calculator active NCEXTEND 2 Administration Window Grades 3–7 Reading and Math

  6. Eligibility EOGs All students in membership at grades 3–8 for reading and math and at grades 5 and 8 for science except: Students participating in NCEXTEND1 (documented in IEP). Students participating in NCEXTEND2 Reading and/or Mathematics and/or Science (documented in IEP). Students identified as LEP scoring below Level 4.0 Expanding on the state-identified English language proficiency reading placement test and are in their first year in U.S. schools are not required to participate in the reading part of the EOG. These studentsare required to participate in the EOG mathematics and science tests. Students granted a medical exception due to a significant medical emergency or condition

Eligibility NCEXTEND2 All students in membership at grades 3–8 for reading and math and at grades 5 and 8 for science whose IEPs designate the use of NCEXTEND2 for reading comprehension and/or mathematics and/or science for testing purposes Exceptions: Students with current IEPs identified as LEP scoring below Level 4.0 Expanding on the state-identified English language proficiency reading placement test and are in their first year in U.S. schools are not required to be assessed on the reading part of the NCEXTEND2. Students are required to participate in the mathematics and science tests Students granted a medical exception To be Eligible for NCEXTEND2: Must have current IEP Does not have only a current 504 Plan If LEP, must also have a current IEP Is not identified as having a significant cognitive disability Is not receiving instruction in the NCSCS through theExtended Content Standards Is not likely to achieve grade-level proficiency within the school year covered by the IEP

  9. Calculators: EOG & NCEXTEND2 Math and Science Students should use the calculator with which they are most familiar. Grades 3–5: Four-function calculator with memory key Grades 6–8: Any four-function calculator with a square root function, yx and (pi)

  10. Administration Time EOG Reading and Math NCEXTEND2 Reading and Math After est. time, give students a 3-minute break every 60 minutes. No max. time. After est. time, give students a 3-minute break every 30 minutes. Maximum time does not include time for breaks or general instructions.

Review Accommodations Tables: • EOG Reading & Math p. 18; Science p. 19 • NCEXTEND2 Reading & Math p. 17; NCEXTEND2 Science p. 18 • For EOG Reading, Math, and Science, the small group testing session is allowed to use one test form (i.e., same form letter and form number) for these accommodations at one testing site (i.e., classroom). A different form (i.e., a different letter) must be used for each of these sessions within a school whenever possible. • For NCEXTEND2: Students with disabilities who are also identified as limited English proficient (LEP) may require accommodations due to language proficiency. These must be documented in the students’ LEP documentation.

Review of Accommodations Used During Testing - Located on the Testing webpage (buff-colored handout) • Transitory Impairments • EOG Reading, Math, Science: • Approved accommodations for students identified with transitory impairments include those accommodations that are approved for use by Section 504-eligible students. • NCEXTEND2 Reading, Math, Science: • For NCEXTEND2, if students have transitory impairments, they may use the same accommodations as students with current IEPs.

Monitoring Students During Testing M/R p.20, Science p. 21 • Walk frequently and quietly throughout the room. • Position self to have an unobstructed view of and easy access to students.   • Do not read test questions from open student test books. • Do notindicate answers to students. Some examples include but are not limited to: • telling students to “look at the question again” or offering similar advice; • making a facial expression, hand gesture, or utterance (e.g., coughing, clearing throat) to indicate approval or disapproval of the student’s response; and • standing beside the desk, reading a question, looking at the student’s response, and then pointing to the correct answer or pointing to the question as if to indicate “read the question again because you have bubbled the wrong answer.” •  Test administrators and proctors cannothelp students: • by explaining the directions in their own words; • by explaining the meaning of any word in the directions, test questions, or answer choices; • by rephrasing test questions; • by translating a word or phrase into another language; or • by providing synonyms for unknown words.

  15. Makeup Testing and Misadministrations Makeup Testing (All EOG & NCEXTEND2 Tests): • Makeup sessions are to extend up to 2 weeks (10 working days) from the date of the scheduled test administration for each test. The count for makeup days for each test begins with the first working day after the regular administration. • EOG/NCEXTEND2 Math Tests: Students who are absent from the makeup sessions and have completed only one part of the math test will not receive a math score. Misadministrations: • EOG Reading, Math, and Science: • Must be administered another secure form of the test (i.e., different letter). • NCEXTEND2 Reading, Math, and Science: • One form of the NCEXTEND2 tests. • Administer the NCEXTEND2 test(s) no earlier than 5 consecutive calendar days following the conclusion of the prior administration.

  21. Transcriptions • One individual transcribes the student’s responses. • One individual verifies the transcription. • One individual observes the process. • All 3 sign the outside cover of the test book. • Separate the books when you return them to the Testing Department.

Retest 1 • No separate supplement for Retest 1; information on Retests located in each TAM. • All students who score Achievement Level II on Regular administration must take Retest 1. • Parents not allowed to opt out of Retest 1 for Level II students. • Parents may request their Level I students take Retest 1. LEAs must grant all requests. • Retest 1 may be given at any time following the Regular administration as long as scores are submitted to the NCDPI by 5:00 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2012. • Local boards establish appropriate review procedures. • LEAs may have more rigorous retesting policies, but they cannot exclude any particular group of students. Exemptions from Retest 1: • Students identified as limited English proficient (LEP) and in their first year in U.S. schools who score below Level 4.0 Expanding on the state-identified English language proficiency reading placement test are exempt from Retest 1 for mathematics and science. Note: This exemption from Retest 1 does not apply for reading because the aforementioned students are not required to take the Regular administration of reading.  • Students who receive a medical exemption for the Regular administration of the test are also exempt from Retest 1. (All medical exceptions must be approved by the Division of Accountability Services/North Carolina Testing Program.)
