The Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) welcomes Late-Breaking Abstracts that report on new scientific research developments in all areas of Investigative Dermatology for   the 2014 SID Annual Meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico, May 7 - 10. #SIDABQ2014 Submission period: MONDAY, MARCH 17 - MONDAY, MARCH 31, 2014 Note: All accepted abstracts submitted as late-breaking will be eligible only for Poster presentations. Submission process: Submissions will be accepted through the current online abstract system Abstract Central Fee for submission: $50.00 U.S. and must be paid at the time of submission.

Awards include: Burroughs Wellcome Career Award for Medical Scientists, Burroughs Wellcome Investigators in the Pathogenesis of Infectious Disease Program, Greenwall Faculty Scholars Program, Hearst Fund for Pre- and Perinatal Medicine, Microsoft Research Faculty Fellowship Program, Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellowship, Searle Scholars Program, W.T. Grant Scholars Program, and more… Researchers interested in applying for any of the awards listed above can apply for the HMS nomination by submitting an application online no later than April 1, 2014 at 5:00PM. Transitioning from Individual Contributor to Leader/Manager Part of the Professional Interactions & Communications Seminar Series Monday, March 24 ~ 12:00 - 1:30pmCarrie Hall Conference Room Please register online The transition from individual contributor to leader or manager can be challenging because it requires a new set of perspectives, skills, and responsibilities. Individual contributors are often promoted because of their knowledge and expertise, but their success as managers depends directly on their ability to get things done through others. This session will provide insight on the main challenges in moving from technical contributor to manager, help identify the traits of successful leaders, and guide participants in how to acquire and strengthen leadership skills. The format is highly interactive with a focus on practical techniques and applications in current roles.

Principal Investigator Input and Ideas (PI3) LunchesWednesday, February 26th, 12-1 PM limited attendance, location to be confirmedPI3 lunches are an opportunity for a small group of principal investigators from across departments to meet with Barbara Bierer, MD, Senior Vice President, Research, as well as key leaders in the BRI, Development and the Office for Research Careers. The lunches are an opportunity for you to describe your research and offer your ideas as to how the above mentioned entities/offices might help you achieve your research and professional goals. The number of available spots for each lunch is limited, but you may sign up to attend a future PI3 lunch on the BWH research intranet.
