  2. The Source and The Solution!

  3. What Has Been Said About Us!

  4. Things are getting worse! • Pain Medicine Use Has Nearly Doubled from 1977 – 2005. • ABC News – 8/22/07 • New image of a pill

  5. Spending soars on U.S. drug ads “by a staggering 330 percent – to $30 billion in 2005”. New England Journal of Medicine – 8/22/07

  6. Drug Errors Injure • More than 1.5 Million people every year! • One quarter of errors are preventable • A hospitalized patient averages one medication error per day. • A serious error can add more than $8,750 to the patients bill. • 246, 662 patients died. ABC News (study by HealthGrades) 4/4/07

  7. Medicare Will Not Pay for Errors • Effective Oct. 1, 2008 The New York Times – 8/22/07

  8. Source Vs. Symptoms • Physiology is a physical manifestation of “Something” • Behaviors are goal directed actions to achieve “Something”. • Thinking is rational/irrational reasoning about “Something”. • Feelings are subjective experiences about “Something” • Beliefs are interpretations of “Something”. What is “THE SOMETHING?”

  9. One Physical Source • It’s called “STRESS”! • CDC (Clemson) - …as much as 90% of illness and disease is stress-related….stress can be a contributing factor in making existing problems worse. 83% of all deaths for adults between the age of 21 and 65 are related to lifestyle – “unmanaged stress”. cdc.gov 8/14/07

  10. “95%+ of illness and disease is directly related to stress. The other 5% is caused by a genetic mutation that occurred in your ancestry – caused by stress!” Bruce Lipton Ph.D. “The Biology of Belief”

  11. Even the perception of stress can take 10 years off your life. • “There is absolutely hope that the DNA damage is reversible. UCSF - Newsweek Jan. 17, 2005

  12. What Causes Stress? • Throughout the natural world, scientists are finding, cells and organisms record their experiences…these cellular memories might mean the difference between a healthy life, and death. • Cancer can be a result of bad cellular memories replacing good ones. Phychological trauma, addiction and depression may all be furthered by abnormal memories inside cells. Diseases that turn up later in life, scientists suspect, may be due to errant memories programmed into cells as people age. • Now Scientists are striving to understand how cells acquire these memories and perhaps treat disease at it’s root by adjusting them. • “This may provide of the the most powerful ways of curing illness,” says Dr. Eric Nestler, chairman of the department at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. • For many diseases treatments today aren’t much better than band-aids. They address a disease’s symptoms, but not it’s cause. “Harnessing this knowledge, “Dr. Nestler says,” offers the potential of really correcting the abnormality.” • Dallas Morning News, Sept. 12, 2004

  13. What Causes Stress? • “Stress is caused by a wrong belief, usually in the subconscious mind”. • Beliefs control Behavior • Beliefs Control Genes • Beliefs rewrite Behavior • Beliefs re-write Genes Bruce Lipton Ph.D. – The Biology of Belief

  14. Adult chronic pain and illness is caused by destructive cellular memories which are almost always unconscious. Heal the destructive memories and the pain and illness will go away. John Sarno M.D. Professor NYU Medical Center

  15. Stress and Your Heart

  16. Stress and Your Heart “Mounting evidence suggests that your psychological outlook is just as important”. • Three Studies: Athens 1981, Iraq 1991, L.A. 1994 • “Love is Real Medicine”

  17. What is the Heart? • Cellular Memories • Beliefs • Unconscious • Subconscious • Spirit • Experiences • Feelings, etc., etc., etc. • ISSUES OF THE HEART!

  18. What is the Language of the Heart? • “All data is encoded in the form of pictures” • Pierce Howard, Ph.D. in Owner’s Manual for the Brain • Richard Glenn, Ph.D. “Every problem can be traced by to a destructive picture” in Transformations

  19. What is the language of the Heart? • The cell is like a camera. Whatever is in the environment, the membrane is like a lens, it picks up the image and sends that image to the nucleus where the data base is. That’s where the stored images are. Bruce Lipton Ph.D. In The Biology of Belief.

  20. What is the language of the Heart? • The ability to display images internally and to order those images in a process called thought. (p89)

  21. What is the language of the Heart? • “Imageless thought”….is impossible in fact • “Human reasoning …is always imagistic” Antonio Damasio M.D., Ph.D. Professor and Chair of Neuroscience Dept., USC

  22. POWER of the Heart! • 95-95% of all behavior comes from subconscious • We spend 95-99% of our day in the subconscious • Subconscious is 1 million times more powerful than Conscious • 2000 bits/second Vs. 4 billion bits/second • Can process 1-3 events at a time vs. Thousands at a time. • Less than 1 percent of total information vs. 99%+ of information

  23. Every thought you have sends electrical signals throughout your brain. Thoughts have actual physical properties. They are real. They have significant influence on every cell of your body. • Whenever you remember a particular event, your brain releases chemicals similar to those released originally. Daniel Amen M.D. in Change Your Brain Change Your Life

  24. The Heart Wins! • 6,000 out of 6,500 patients with mostly advanced cancer were still alive – that is over 90%, almost a reversal of the results expected. • “Every cancer and related disease starts with a conflict-shock-experience. It manifests on three levels, psyche, brain and organ. • This process can ONLY be stopped by switching off the original trigger in the brain by defusing the original conflict shock.” Ryke Hamer M.D.

  25. Mechanisms of the Heart • Roger Sperry 1982 Nobel Prize Winner • Left Brain – words • Right Brain – pictures, meaning, significance, action Nobelprize.org

  26. Left Brain / Right Brain Words Logical Analytical Conceptual Time Pictures Intuitive Holistic Feeling Timeless

  27. Limbic System

  28. Limbic System • The Limbic System is associated with emotion and motivation. The amygdala is known to attach emotional significance to sensory input. The Limbic System has a direct influence on neuroendocrine, autonomic, and behavor mechanisms and fight or flight. • Need public domain image of limbic system. John Hesselink, M.D. spinwarp.ucsd.edu 6/26/07

  29. Hippocampus • The Hippocampus (Limbic system) is in charge of transferring information into memory. Psychoeducation.org 8/6/07

  30. Amygdala • The amygdala coordinates the actions of the autonomic and endocrine systems and is involved in emotions. It is part of a general-purpose defense response control network. • After surgical removal of the the amygdala, growls, screams, angry voices, etc., loose their meaning and become incomprehensible. • David Givens – Center for Nonverbal Studies – 2005 • Members.aol.com/nonverbal

  31. Reticular Formation • Severing the brain from the reticular formation produced a sleep like state now called coma which lasted until the animals died. (1940’s) • Electrical stimulation of the reticular formation produced circling, lying down, and standing. • We hypothesize that the core of the reticular formation is the structure that commits to one or another mode of behavior. • David Olmsted 1998

  32. Reticular Formation

  33. How Does the Heart Work?

  34. What is “THE SOMETHING?” The images of the heart are THE SOMETHING!

  35. What Are Images Made Of? • Flesh, Blood, Bone Tissue? NO!

  36. Images Are Made of Energy! • “Future medicine will be based on controlling energy in the body.” William Tiller, Ph.D.
