  1. Should scuba divers be required to have a full certification to dive anywhere around the world? Yes, for safety of themselves and others I believe all scuba divers should be required to have a certification.

  2. Research • Nitrogen Levels • Equalizing • Breathing Properly • Diving with a buddy • Fire Coral • Stone Fish • Lion Fish • Shark

  3. Health & Requirements • No asythma • No high blood pressure • 200 yards in the pool • Tread water for ten minutes • Master skills taught in class • 6 hours of classroom time • 8 hours of pool training • 4 open water dives including the navigation dive

  4. What I discovered during my research… Dive teams all over the world wont take you diving if you don’t have a certification and proof of one because of liability.

  5. Mentor Craig May Mr. May is a good friend of the families and is the reason I got into scuba diving. He has dove all over the world. Mr. May helped plan the trip to Turks and Caicos over the summer and the trip to Florida to go diving in the Keys.

  6. Link Between Paper and Product For my product, I chose to get Open Water Certified to see what the being a diver is all about and now I am also an Advanced Open Water Diver. Florida Keys, Turks & Caicos, Jamaica

  7. Product Steps Step 1: Pick my mentor Step 2: Open Water Certification Step 3: Advanced Open Water Certification Step 4: Deep Diver Step 5: Dives in Florida Keys for experience Step 6: Make my scrapbook

  8. Things You Learn in Scuba Class* • How to clear a foggy mask underwater • How to breathe efficiently through a regulator • How to put together/take apart your gear • How to stay neutrally buoyant underwater • The different kinds of fish, coral and sea life

  9. Problems Some of the problems I came across in English 3 was not procrastinating and just getting it all done. Some of the problems I came across was making time to meet with my mentor because of school and work.

  10. What I learned about myself… When taking the scuba class, I learned better when we were practicing our skills in the pool than when we were going over them in a classroom setting. I'm more of a hands-on learner.

  11. What I am most proud of… I am most proud of getting all my scuba certifications, it takes a lot of time and commitment to finish the certifications and I have gotten to travel more because of it. This will help me in the future because my sister and I both want to become master divers one day so we can certify other divers and become a rescue diver. I plan on going to UNCW in the fall and they have classes you can take to help advance your certifications.
