The dialogue… A huge dialogue has been going on on the WEB since the late 90ties.. .. ”virtuallife” - ”real life” .. on the Web is going a constant fight between ”the good” and ”the bad”.. .. in ”the virtual chaos” the need of help and support have increased.. .. help&support (professional..) on the Net Peter Sandström, Social therapist, Net counsellor

The Net as a bad trap Living in the virtuality lead to conflicts: • constant need of excitement and rapid satisfaction (kicks) • gambling/excessive use of the Internet, utilization (sexual), feed ”use and throw away mentality” • causes harms in other areas of life • exhaust from reality Peter Sandström, Social therapist, Net counsellor

  4. www for a better world? • Gives excellent tools for understanding, luck and peace? • Makes us more intelligent? • Gives welfare, democracy and possibilities to poor countries? OR - increase inequality? - deepen the gap between the rich and the poor? The Web is one of the biggest reasons why dependence- and behaviour problems have increased in the last 10 years. The Net as an instrument of care and love • Lower the threshold for seeking help • Info, support and self-help tools • Net counselling • Virtual communities Possibility to keep psychological distance; Anonymity is the central value open 24h – ”here and now” Peter Sandström, Social therapist, Net counsellor
