  3. Population • In 1995,the estimated population of Morocco is 26, 857, 000 people • Population of Rabat in 2004 is 627, people • Population of Casablanca in 2008 is 2, 909, 805 people. • Population of Fez is 946, 815 people

  4. Population • Population of Tangier is 669, 685 people

  5. Capital cities • Morocco’s capital city is Rabat and is on the Atlas mountain • Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech, Tangier are important cities • Casablanca is the fourth largest city in Africa

  6. Languages • Official language in Morocco is Arabic • Also speak Berber (language) • Large number of of Arabs and Berber speak French and Spanish • French is language of business, government in Morocco

  7. Natural Resources • Has two thirds of the world phosphate rock and phosphate acid • Phosphate used for fertilizer and other chemical • Also mine coal, copper, iron ore, led, zinc • fish anchovies, mackerel, sardine, tuna
