  2. Drug Use Trends In VirginiaAlcohol(National Survey on Drug Use and Health) Percent that used in the past 30 days • Since 2007, alcohol use has dropped from ages 12-25. • In 2008, alcohol use in 26 + peaks at 57%

  3. Drug Use Trends in VirginiaTobacco(National Survey on Drug Use and Health) Percent that used in the past 30 days • From 2006-2008, there was a major decrease in tobacco use from ages 18-25. • In 2009, tobacco use from ages 12-17 and 26 + is about the same as it was in 2006.

Drug Use Trends in VirginiaAlcohol Dependence or Abuse - Annually (National Survey on Drug Use and Health) Percent that used in the past year. • For ages 12-17 and 26+, alcohol abuse stayed under 10% • From 2006 to 2009 ages 18-25, alcohol dependence or abuse rose by 2%. *Did not have lifetime alcohol use.

Drug Use Trends in VirginiaCocaine Use – Annually (National Survey on Drug Use and Health) Percent that used in the past year • From 2007 to 2009, cocaine use ages 18-25 dropped from 7.99% to 4.95% • Both ages 12-17 and 26+ reached an all time low in 2009 at 1.04% and 1.31% *Did not have lifetime tobacco use

Drug Use Trends in VirginiaMarijuana – Annual Rate of First Use(National Survey on Drug Use and Health) Percent that used in the past year • From 2006 to 2009, marijuana use ages 18-25 rose 2.16% • Between 2006-2009 the rate of first time use of marijuana for ages 26+ stayed under .2% *Did not have lifetime marijuana use.
