  3. The “Team” • Designed for the small concurrent design team (CDT) • 1-5 (max=10) • We supply basic tools for the CDT • Get the group “up” as quickly as possible

The “In Process” Methodology • Staying in the design environment while managing the data • The management simply becomes part of the normal design process. • All the key operations such as Search, Locate, and Life Cycle/Revision control have been intuitively designed and are located inside the design application • No need to spend extra time re-keying data

Adding Value Through Functionality • Full Part and Assembly Management • Keeping complexity under control--SmarTeam solves the problem of managing complex assemblies and their component parts. • Absolute integrity of all assembly references and dependencies are maintained during life cycle operations. • Drawing Management •  All aspects of drawing control are efficiently managed by SmartExpress. • Deep title block penetration and control • Bill of Materials integration and annotation mapping. This insures that the shop floor gets the RIGHT document ON TIME.

  6. “In Process” Means High Productivity • The “Data Management Tree” • No need to open external applications nor to open and close files. • A powerful “in process” tool embedded into the SolidWorks feature manager allowing rapid and complete data management control.

Enhancing the SolidWorks Environment • Part and Assembly Configurations • Whatever their usage, SmartExpress captures their unique and common identities. • SolidWorks configurations serve as iterative design elements, product variants or view variations. • Joined parts • SmartExpress can manage not only the joined-welded parts, but also the weld beads that join the parts and their references to their parent assembly. • Base Parts • SmartExpress provides tools that relieve the designer of keeping track of complex relationships that may be created from derived versions of base parts.

  8. Maintaining the TitleBlock • The title block is the data center of the engineering drawing. • SmartExpress captures this important data, keeps it current and updated. • Managers can know title block data without even opening the drawing.

The Ease of Mapping Properties • Custom Properties Mapping • Allows fluid exchange and updating of data while closely integrating SmarTeam data management power with SolidWorks file management tools. • Dimensions Mapping • A unique method of parametrically managing dimensions via a database: critical design constraints and production dimensions can be quickly modified and efficiently managed from within the database.

  12. Powerful Viewing Tools • Engineers are graphic “creatures” and need viewing tools that rapidly browse documents their engineering documents. • SmartExpress’ embedded viewer supports more that 140 file formats for quick viewing or printing.

  13. Uploading Legacy Data • Bulk Loading • This tool transparently loads legacy data into the SmarTeam database. • Rapid implementation can be achieved by using the “bulk loading” utilities provided by SmarTeam.
