  2. May 2018 LCCU MeetingUpdate Detector Software • Alternatives to Secunia PSI (EOL 4/20/18): • SUMo – Software Update Monitor – offered greatest number of updates, but does not link to & install them. • Patch My PC Home Updater – Downloads & installs updates, includes scheduler. Checks 302 programs. • Heimdal Free– recommended by a Secunia developer. Only checks “over 20” software apps. • uCheck – by creator of RogueKiller • Coming later this year: VulnDetect

  3. May 2018 LCCU MeetingUpdate Detector Software • Alternatives to Secunia PSI: • Ninite.com creates a custom updater for any of 85 common apps you used it to install, with no user interaction or restarts. • Filehippo App Manager - v1.75 is the latest stable version, v2 beta version automates the installs.

  4. May 2018 LCCU MeetingUpdate Detector Software • Testing alternatives to Secunia PSI: • Ninite.com created a custom updater for all the programs I use from their site. At least 16 programs were updated in about 30 minutes. Problem – it doesn’t produce a log of what it updates. • PatchMyPC – when run before ninite, 18 of 38 apps I have were up-to-date (of the 301 they check). After running the Ninite.com update, 36 of 41 were up-to-date. Updating the remaining 5 took about 30 min. • Neither would update Malwarebytes.
