  1. Scotland Day 1 Edinburgh National Museum

  2. So, I started this historical, pun intended, trip through Scotland by flying into the Edinburgh International Airport. Since Scotland is the original place where golf was invented, what did I see first?The Scots definitely have a sense of humor. This is Edinburgh’s airport flight tower. Pretty impressive, huh?Have you guessed what this is yet?If you guessed a golf tee, you are right. This is what the Scots want you to see when you arrive.

  3. Okay, so after the airport, I dropped off my luggage at the hotel and then went exploring. There was so much to see so I started with the must do’s.

  4. Edinburgh National Musuem We were lucky, after getting to the hotel and walking to our first destination, the museum just opened. And with me preparing and studying the maps before the trip, we did not get lost. So, starts the tour of the museum.

  5. That’s why the Scotland flag is has the white “X” on it.

  6. This is St. Andrew, or at least a depiction, since I believe since the saint has been dead for a long while.

  7. Can you believe this is a lectern? I am not seeing it, maybe if I squint my eyes and tilt my head? Oh wait . . . Right in the middle of the wings, see the slight edge? I think that’s where you would place your notes, ahhh, should have taken a picture from the other side.

  8. This is where the great scenery from the roof top of the museum, which was really nice.

  9. I loosely call that mound a hill, and in front of it the flat, craggy part is called Arthur’s Seat. This is an extinct volcano which soars to 823 ft (okay stop laughing, this is pretty high for those at sea level) above the city. This volcano erupted 325 million years ago. The name came from a corruption of the word archer and not really associated with King Arthur.
