  5. Besides learning about vocabulary and grammar we do: • Individual/Group Presentation • Partner Interviews/Pair work • Games

  6. What have we done? • Review • Theme 1: Asking Direction • Design an ideal campus map and present to the class • Give direction from your home to school.

  7. Theme 2: Birthday Party Objectives : • Invite a friend to go to a party with you; • Suggest things to do at gathering; • Arrange a time and place to meet; • Thank people for their gifts; • Describe duration of time; • Talk about your birthday and your Chinese zodiac sign; • Give a simple description of someone’s facial features.

Theme 3: Seeing a Doctor Objectives : • Talk about symptoms of a cold; • Describe common symptoms of allergies; • Understand and repeat instructions on when and how to take medications; • Talk about why you do or don’t want to see the doctor; • Urge your friend to see a doctor when he/she is not feeling well.

  9. Theme 4: Dating Objectives : • Describe how long you have known someone; • Invite someone for a date; • Accept/Decline a date politely; • End a phone conversation without hurting the other person’s feelings.

  10. Theme 5: Renting an Apartment Objectives : • Describe your current and ideal living quarters; • Name pieces of furniture; • Discuss and negotiate rent, utilities, and security deposits.

  11. Theme 1: Asking Direction Objectives • Ask for and give directions (direction words); • Identify locations by using landmarks as references; • Describe whether two places are close to or far away from one another; • Tell where you are heading and the purpose of going there.

  12. Theme 6: Sports Objectives: • Name some popular sports; • Talk about how you exercise; • Discuss your feelings about various sports; • Make a simple comparison between how soccer and football are played differently.

  13. Grading Policy Each marking period is evaluated by: • Homework: 35% (Randomly collected and graded) • Quizzes and Class work: 35% • Tests: 30%

  14. School Year Grade • 1stMarking Period: 23% • 2nd Marking Period: 23% • 3rd Marking Period: 23% • 4th Marking Period: 23% • Final Exam: 8%
