  4. Media Service 與 Windows Server 2008 • Windows Server 2008 RC0 的現況 • 目前在Windows Server 2008 RC0 中並不包含 Windows Media Server 2008 • 必須先行下載 KB934518 先行安裝 • 安裝完畢使用 Server Roles 設定 • Windows Media Server 2008 • 包含在 Windows Server 2008 中 • 可使用 Server Core 環境中 • 包含 X86 與 X64 平台的支援

  9. Cache/Proxy Management • WMS Cache/Proxy plug-in 能夠設定 WMS 成為 cache/proxy 伺服器或者是 reverse proxy 伺服器 • 主要提供 caching 與 proxy 以支援其他的 Windows Media servers • 架構如同 Windows Server 2003 企業板以上所提供的 Proxy 機制

  10. Cache/Proxy Management • 快取與代理機制可以讓你的數位資訊快速傳遞出去，以提供更佳的體驗特徵 • 藉以保存網路頻寬減少網路負擔與降低對原始伺服器的負載 PS：某個角度來說，這樣的方案有助於降低對伺服器的成本需求

  11. Server Core Installation • 可搭配 Windows Server 2008Server Core 安裝架構來規劃 Windows Media Server 2008 • Server Core 的安裝可以不必安裝非必需的元件，只安裝所需要的元件 • 其中不必要的元件就包含了圖形使用者介面（Graphic User Interface，GUI），管理方式採用遠端管哩，或是使用命令提示字元管理

  12. 快取 Advanced Fast Start （用戶端利用500k的連線提出10秒鐘的緩衝區建立） http://server/file.wmv 在500k的連線中送出最初的10秒資訊 播放器再從緩衝區提取串流播放 剩下的串流資訊再利用300k傳送至用戶端 範例：一個300kbps的WMV檔案在500K的連線中 伺服器 用戶端

  13. Advanced Fast Start • Advanced Fast Start 是用戶端與伺服器端接需配合的機制 • 用戶端 • Windows Media Player 10 以上版本 • Windows CE 5.0 以上版本 • 伺服器端 • Windows Server 2003 企業版以上 • Windows Server 2008 標準版以上

  14. Play While Archiving • 廣播出去的媒體內容是可以被保存的 • 被保存的媒體以 Windows Media 檔案型態存放 • 被保存的媒體可以在被用在隨點即播的多媒體串流 PS：如果想保護媒體內容，則可結合RMS

  15. Advanced FF/RW • 在允許的穩定頻寬中提供更順暢的快轉與倒轉（FF/RW）的功能 • 伺服器需支援： • Windows Server 2003 企業版以上 • Windows Server 2008 企業版以上 • 用戶端必須支援： • Windows Media Player 9 以上版本 • Windows CE 5.0 以上版本

  16. Broadcast AutoStart • 廣播站台可以在一些特殊狀況中自動啟用 • 以往 WMS 伺服器本身斷電重啟後，管理者必須將廣播站台的設定重啟 • 在新版本中，允許在開機後當 WMS 服務啟動時就順便帶起廣播站台

  17. Absolute Playlist Time • 絕對播放清單時間，能夠讓管理者利用播放清單的wallclock 參數指定播放時間 • 你可以利用wallclock參數設定自動廣播的排程 • 必許採用 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) 定義伺服器的播放時間

  18. Encoder Failover URL Modifiers • 假如你即時媒體來源的 Encoder 臨時出了狀況，可以利用 WMS 上的 Pull 機制向其他的 Encoder 提取其他即時媒體 • 藉此提供即時媒體的 擷取容錯機制

  19. Additional Windows Server System Platform Support (x64) • 配合 Windows Server 2008 的硬體平台支援，除了傳統的 x86 平台並支援 x64 • x64 平台支援： • Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) AMD64 • Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (EM64T)

  21. 伺服器端的播放清單 • 伺服器端的播放清單是嚴格的(並且是強迫性的)執行在伺服器上 • 用戶端只需建立一個連線，伺服器端會組合串流式的播放清單給使用者 • 允許動態的方式變更播放清單 • 可以被使用在選擇性播放與廣播的場景環境中 • 提供收音機/電視 性質的 “節目導播” 功能
