Sango Elementary Monday, August 15, 2011 Reading Our story this week is “Thunder Rose.” The vocabulary words are: pitch, veins, daintily, thieving, devastation, branded, constructed, resourceful, lullaby. Reading comprehension and vocabulary test on “Thunder Rose” will be Friday. Math Students will continue working on place value in whole numbers and in decimals as well. We will order and compare numbers from the millions to the millionths place. Multiplication facts will be quizzed every Friday. Students must complete 100 facts in 5 minutes. The quiz given last Friday was practice. Grading begins on quizzes this Friday. Please help your child practice their facts. Thank you. Science Students will continue comparing the functions of the plants and animal cells. We will begin studying the process of photosynthesis. Social Studies Students will label and learn the major rivers and lakes of the United States. Students will label different regions of the U.S. each day and quiz on them the following morning. See students planner each evening. Thank you so much for sending in all of your paper work so promptly! Soon we will upload your email addresses. Our Wiki Site is brumblayharper.wikispaces.com JUST A REMINDER… Students will be bringing home today a “Weekly Folder.” Please sign the log verifying you have seen the items sent home, and return with the folder. You may keep the graded papers at home. Please send in lunch money in a baggie or envelope with your child’s name, teacher name, and lunch number on it. All lunch money is sent to the cafeteria at the beginning of the day. AR testing will begin August 22nd. If your child is going to be dismissed at all during the school day, PLEASE send a note in to the teacher first thing in the morning. Just a reminder that after 3:00 p.m. NO children will be dismissed from the office. Students will write in their planner each day. Please read and initial it each evening.
