  2. Ending in ify and iply and ation • Words that end in ify or iply, the y has a long i sound. • To add the ation ending to these words you change the y to i and then add ation.

  7. Verify and Verification • To make sure of identity or truth. • When you vote you must show your drivers license to verify who you are.

  8. Magnify and Magnification • To take something small and make it bigger. • We use a microscope to magnify cells.

  9. Notify and Notification • To let you know information. • The operator will notify you when your application has been accepted.

  10. Clarify and Clarification • To make something clear. • Teachers spend many hours each day trying to clarify information in class.

  11. Purify and Purification • To make clean. • I use this machine to purify my water before I drink it.

  12. Qualify and Qualification • To meet the requirements. • You must have a job and good credit to qualify for the car loan.

  13. Unify and Unification • To bring together. • The contest helped to unify the college students .
