  2. Nature of work • Manage construction contracts • Prepare scaled drawings of a model • Estimate equipment, construction time, materials and costs • Consult with clients • Visit worksite to ensure building is according to plan

  3. Education and training • Earn a professional degree in architecture • Gain experience through internship • Pass the architect registration exam • Get certified by NCARB • Become accredited by NAAB

  4. Other qualifications • A five year bachelors degree is the minimum needed • Internship minimum of 5,600 hours • Masters degree of architecture is required in some states • Be able to use a computer well with 3D models • Complete 700 units of internship (8 hours a day working full time)

  5. Job outlook • Employment growing by 24 percent in 10 years • More “creative” architects are wanted • As buildings get old well need new ones and renovations • ‘Green design’ architects wanted • Only a 6 percent growth in 2013

  6. Earnings • Median wage is 72,550$ • Lowest 10 percent earn 42,860$ • Highest 10 percent earn 119,500& • Almost all architects work full time, 50 hours a week • Firms pay tuition for further educating their employees

  10. Education • Requires bachelors degree • Licensed by the securities and exchange commission • Become certified by the CFPBS • Earn your CFP to do more in your field • No experience required

  11. Other qualifications • Business, financial, economic courses preferred college courses • Computer and math skills are necessary • Interpersonal skills are most important • Several years of experience needed for certain certifications • Work with charts and paper work well

  12. Outlook • Growing 32 percent in 10 years • Financial advisors are expected to face competition as the combination of relatively high wages and few formal educational requirements attracts many applicants for each opening. • As the population ages more financial advisors are needed
