  3. XPP Instrument Overview

  4. Update from Fall FAC • Received advanced procurement approval December 18, 2009 for: • Sample Goniometer • Detector Mover • Final Instrument Design Review successfully held Feb 24, 2009 • Procurement authorization for everything except OPA, multipass amplifier • Baseline change request processed to include large offset monochromator system for XPP • Procurement documents were reviewed at the XCS advanced procurement review April 24, 2009 and the documents are being updated

  5. Laser Tables and Enclosure • Completed design of laser containment system and optical table layouts • Design review November 14, 2008 • Laser tables are fabricated and are in storage in the control room. • Anchor holes are drilled and tables are ready to be installed once granite is installed • Enclosure PO placed April 20, 2009 5’ x 12’ 5’ x 6’

  6. X-ray Optics Tables • Completed final design of X-ray optics tables • Final design review January 26, 2009 • Granite PO placed April 14, 2009 • Expected to be delivered in July w/ rails installed • Anchor holes for the earthquake restraints already drilled

  7. Sample Goniometer • Received advanced procurement authorization Dec. 18, 2008 • Goniometer PO awarded to Huber April 1, 2009 • Expected to be delivered in April 1, 2010 • Vendor site visit scheduled for July 17, 2009

  8. Detector Mover • Received advanced procurement authorization Dec. 18, 2008 • Robot basing design study completed in January, 2009 • Robot PO awarded March 31, 2009 • Expected to be delivered this week • Robot support design review held May 22, 2009 • Detailed fabrication drawings in process • Robot software PO in process

  9. Hutch Facilities • Work benches and storage cabinets received and installed • Tools and tool boxes PO placed March 24, 2009 • Expected to be delivered and installed in August • Raised floor PO in process (req submitted March 10) • Cable trays are here

  10. Laser Equipment • RFP issues for 20 Ghz Oscilloscope • Various optics and optomechanics PO’s in process • Much more to be procured over the next 6 months • Hopefully procurement authorization will be given for OPA and multipass amplifier shortly so req’s can be placed

  12. Early Commissioning? X-ray support tables are expected to be installed in July Vacuum transport can/will be installed in the summer as well Prototype X-ray diagnostics will be ready in the fall Would be extremely beneficial to receive some early “machine time” to test prototype diagnostics, optics, materials, etc… 4-8 hours per week??? This would significantly reduce the risk and commissioning time allocated to the dedicated XPP instrument commissioning
