  2. Career • The paid and unpaid work a person does during his or her lifetime

  3. Submissive • To be willing to yield to the commands or wishes of others, apologetic, indifferent, passive

  4. Aggressive • To dominate a situation without regard to others’ feelings or wishes; unfriendly, domineering, relentless

  5. Assertive • The ability to express one’s feelings and beliefs without being rude or ignoring the rights of others; persistent, understanding, cooperative

  6. Drudgery • Dull and tedious labor

  7. Absolute Earnings • The amount of goods and services a person can buy with his or her income

  8. Relative Earnings • The amount of goods and services a person can buy with his or her income compared with what his or her neighbors can buy with theirs

  9. Equal Pay • To be paid the same amount as one’s co-workers, regardless of age, sex or race

  10. Human Relationships • The personal connections people develop with others through their thoughts and behaviors

  11. Self-concept • How people view their own skills, interests, and competence levels

  12. Underemployed • To be overqualified for a specific job

  13. Variety • A periodic change in the task, pace, or location of work

  14. Delay Gratification • To postpone the acquisition of certain things or participation in certain activities to complete training or education that will result in a better future
