  1. SLEEPING NAFRETIRI BY:JESSICA N.

  2. Once upon a time, a long time ago, there was a pharaoh and queen who lived in a royal palace in Egypt.

  3. They wanted to have a child. Finally the queen had a little girl. She was beautiful, with lots of hair as black as a cat. Her name was Nafretiri.

  4. The queen called 7 goddesses, there names were HathorMa’at ,Isis, Tefnut, Seshat, Sekhmet and Bastet. The Pharaoh and queen called them to make wishes on their child. The Pharaoh and the queen were so happy that they had a party, but they didn’t invite the wicked goddess Odjit, because they only had 9 chairs.

  5. The wicked goddess was very unhappy, and she came to the party anyway. She gave Nafirtiri a bad wish, she wished that she would get bitten by a poisonous scarab beetle and die. The people were shocked when they heard this wish. Luckily, one of the goddesses hadn’t given her wish yet. She said, “Nafirtiri will not die, but she will fall asleep for a long time.”

  6. The king and queen tried to keep Nafirtiri away from scarab beetles by only allowing her to play inside. However, one day the scarab beetles made their way into the royal palace. They bit Nafirtiri and she fell asleep. She slept for a long, long time.

  7. One day a young Pharaoh tried to save her. He thought she was beautiful and he kissed her. Nafirtiri woke up and everybody in the palace was happy. They decided to get married and they lived happily ever after.
