External contributions to the Guidebook • Heavy metals (HMs) • Funded by Germany (UBA) • Results from ESPREME project used to derive Tier 1 & Tier 2 emission factors for the Guidebook • Presented by Jochen Theloke, TFEIP Dublin (October 2007) • Persistant organic pollutants (POPs) • Funded by the Netherlands (VROM, MNP, Dutch Emission Registration) • Two separate projects: • POPs now in the protocols • POPs proposed for addition to protocols Jeroen Kuenen

Heavy metals • Heavy metal EFs from Espreme project • UBA Germany supported preparation of EFs for Guidebook • Over 200 emission factors for heavy metals (for different processes, technologies, abatement) introduced in Guidebook, in many cases replacing older outdated/unreferenced values Jeroen Kuenen

Persistent organic pollutants • Introduction of POP EFs in Guidebook • Work funded by the Netherlands (VROM, MNP, Dutch Emission Registration) • Separate from the Guidebook Revision project • Split in two separate projects: • POPs currently in the protocols: all EFs suggested included in the revised Guidebook • POPs suggested for inclusion in the protocols: EFs and short emission descriptions available for inclusion in the Guidebook (not included yet) Jeroen Kuenen

Additional POPs: Include in Guidebook ? • Additional POPs not included in Guidebook at this stage • No additional funds/time available for including all this extra information in the Guidebook • Additional POPs not in the protocols (yet) • Include all these “new” pollutants in the Emission Inventory Guidebook at this point? • Proposal from Guidebook Revision project: • Add emission factors to Emission Factor Database • Do not include the new POPs in the textual Guidebook • This will restrict the Guidebook to the pollutants in the protocols, but facilitates a rather simple inclusion of these pollutants when necessary in the future Jeroen Kuenen
