Le groupe des Sept En peinture, le groupe des Sept soutenaient que l’art devait s’épanouir pour que le pays devienne véritablement une patrie pour son peuple… Ces artistes, au début, peignaient des paysages du parc Algonquin et la baie Georgienne, en Ontario. Plus tard, ils sont allés dans les Rocheuses, l’Arctique, le Québec et la Nouvelle-Écosse. C’était le premier groupe de personnes qui ont donné une identité à « l’art canadien ». Autour du monde, aujourd’hui, quand on voit une peinture du groupe des Sept, on sait que c’est « canadienne ».
