  13. PURPOSE To adapt & implement the national standards for cultural & linguistically appropriate services (CLAS) State of California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs

PROJECT DESCRIPTION State of California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs • Over the course of the next 16 months, this project will result in implemented CLAS standards within all ADP business operations & administration of services. • A CCQI Strategic Plan will be developed to provide a blueprint for ADP to promote & sustain a culturally & linguistically competent organization. • The Plan will also guide CLAS standards implementation for the community-based, publicly-funded, alcohol and other drug (AOD), & problem gambling service delivery system. • Estimated Timeline – April 2008 to August 2009 16

MEASURABLE OBJECTIVES State of California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs • ADP will develop a CCQI Strategic Plan and implement the CLAS standards to improve internal organizational cultural & linguistic competence. • ADP will work collaboratively with Counties & Providers to initiate a consistent statewide implementation of the CLAS standards to provide culturally & linguistically appropriate services to both clients & the community. 17
