  3. Medical • Your early retiree medical plan is a continuation of your active medical benefits. • District paid medical benefits for the employee and spouse will terminate at the end of the month in which the employee reaches age 65.

  4. Dental • Your District paid dental plan terminates at the end of the month in which you retire. • Both certificated and classified employees have the option of continuing their current dental coverage for 18 months through COBRA. • Certificated employees may continue their current dental coverage indefinitely at the AB528 rate.

  5. Vision • Your District paid vision plan terminates at the end of the month in which you retire. • All employees have the option of continuing their current vision coverage for 18 months through COBRA.

  6. Life Insurance • Your District paid life insurance plan terminates at the end of the month in which you retire. • All employees have the option of converting their life insurance to an individual policy purchased directly from Lincoln Financial. • The conversion plan is quite costly. If you are interested, please contact Lincoln Financial at 800-444-2363.

  7. Medicare • When an early retiree or spouse becomes entitled to Medicare, the District’s plan is secondary to Medicare whether or not the individual has enrolled in Medicare. • Therefore, it is extremely important to enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B as soon as you are entitled to do so.
