Aims Aims of the Exchange: • To enhance students’ understanding of China’s rich cultural heritage • To immerse students in an authentic cultural and linguistic setting to maximise learning opportunities • To give students the opportunity to experience daily life in China • To allow students to form valuable friendships • To foster students’ personal and emotional growth

  4. The Program: from 5 to 21 December In this trip we will visit the following cities: • 5-13 Dec: Shanghai - School experience in Shanghai (YangPu high school) • 14 Dec: and other cultural activities- 苏州 • 15-17 Dec: Xi’an - China’s ancient history • 18-21 Dec: Beijing - Capital of culture

School experience activities • Mornings – Chinese language lessons and cultural activities (calligraphy, painting, and Martial art) • Afternoons – visiting cultural sites • Shanghai museum, Zhou Zhuang water town, Shanghai world exhibition centre. • Evenings – sightseeing & activities • HuangPu River cruise, Cheng Huang temple, Chinese acrobatic show

  12. Accommodation During our stay in Shanghai our sister school (YangPu high school) will be providing us with dormitories in which two girls will share a room with ensuite facilities. After we depart from Shanghai the girls will be spending the remainder of their trip in 4 star hotels in Xian and Beijing.

  13. Transportation To and from China: Eastern China Airline (Qantas partner) In Shanghai: all transportation will be provided by YangPu High School (buses). From Shanghai to Xian and from Xian to Beijing over night soft sleeper train While in Xian and Beijing: all transportation will be organised by the travel agent (buses)

  14. Cost summary The cost of the Cultural Exchange will be approximately: $2, 680. This includes visa, accommodation, school attendance, transport, food, entrance tickets and airport taxes. Students need to bring spending money as all other expenses will be covered.

  15. Payment Conditions Payable to MGGS: • A non-refundable $750 deposit by 12 June 2009 (Near the end of term 2) • Balance payable by 11 September 2009 (Near the end of term 3) • Most payment methods accepted -Cash/Cheque/Credit Card/EFPOS
