  2. Algorithm • Algorithm a step by step instructions for doing something , such as carrying out a computation or solving a problem.

  3. Certain • Certain means that you are 100 percent true you’re right. For example if someone said that there would be a least one day that it would rain with in a year that would be certain.

  4. Column addition • Column Addition is addition but you separate the place value in rows and column. For example we do 155 + 77 then we do 7+5= 12 then we do 7+5=12 and we carry 1 and we would get 13 and we carry the 1 & 2 so are answer is 232

  5. Digit • A digit is one of the number symbols of 1, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,and 9. For example there is 158 8 is a digit in the ones place for the digit

  6. Estimate • An estimate is when you do a math problem when you round it to the closes number. For example least say were doing 199+ 257 so we round it and we get 200+ 300 and the answer is 500.

  7. Expanded notation • Is like when you do 6*6 but it’s like this 6 2. for example this is a Expanded notation 2 2. the answer is 4.

  8. Magnitude estimate • A magnitude estimate is a estimate that says where should you could place it in the tens hundreds and thousands. For example lets say that there is 146 so you round it to the hundreds and you get 100. Then you do 235 and you round it up and you get 200. then you add them together and you and your answer is 300.

  9. Maximum • The maximum is the biggest number. For example 12, 23 and 45. 45 is the maximum.

  10. mode • The mean is the most often number. For example 15,12 15,23,13,and 17.15 is the mode.

  11. Median • The median is the middle number. For example there is 1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3,5,5,5,9,9,9,10,10,10. 3 is the answer.

  12. Minimum • Minimum is the lowest number. For example we have 9,7,6and 3 what is the minimum? The answer is 3.

  13. Mean • The mean is the avenge number. For example we have 19, 16 15 and 7. then I add them all up and you get 57than you do 57 /4= 14 and a R 1.

  14. Operation symbol • An operation symbol is a symbol that does + - * /. For example + = adding.

  15. Place value • Any number is understood by it’s symbol and by it’s location like ones, tens and hundreds. For example 743 7 = 7 hundred

  16. Range • The range is the maximum – minimum the maximum is 10 and the minimum is 3 then the range is 7.

  17. Relation symbol • A symbol used to express a relationship between two quantities. For example the symbol = means equal to.

  18. True number sentence • A number sentence in which when you have to find which answer is right. For example 25>20 +3 is a true number sentence

  19. Solution • A solution is the answer to a problem. For example 16 +5 =21. 21 is the solution.

  20. Number sentence • A number sentence is when you do something when you talk about is. For example Steve has 16 dollars and Suzy lee has 4 dollars how much is it all together? Answer is 20.

  21. Open number sentence • A open number sentence is when you do a number sentence but you finish it with a variable. Steve and Suzy lee got there money they both got 21 how much 21+21=h answer 41

  22. Variable • A variable is a letter trying to be a number. For example 16+4 =B. B is the variable.
