Spitz • : Treacherously friendly, underhanded (-pawed) white dog
Perrault • : French Canadian who buys Buck first; “a little weazend man who spat broken English and many strange and uncouth exclamations which Buck could not understand.” (8-9)
François: • Swarthy French Canadian who teams with Perrault
Judge • : Buck’s original owner; gives Buck the domesticated life he thinks he loves
Manuel: • the Gardeners Helper who stole Buck to pay off his gambling debt
Curly • : Good-natured Newfoundland bought by Perrault
Dave • Experienced dog that primarily eats and sleeps and just wants to be left alone • Wheeler
Sol-leks • : The Angry One, blind in one eye, also wants to be left alone • Attacks Buck because he walked up on his blind side
Billee and Joe • Billee: a good-natured dog on the sled team, from whom Buck learns how to sleep in the snow. • Joe: Billee’s brother- mean and sour – Spitz cannot discipline him
Pike/Dub/Dolly • Pike: steals the bacon from Perrault • Dub: gets blamed for stealing the bacon—finds the rabbit • Dolly: goes mad and is killed by Francois
