Joe Group • Using Activities Recommended by NEA to foster a more engaged community of learners • Focus on Reading Comprehension and Writing Skills • Implementation of a Book Club introducing them to minority authors

  10. G.I. Joe Group • First four weeks will be spent creating a connection with the students • Teacher will utilize activities from the C.A,R,E. guideline book • Goal of the teacher is to learn the culture of the students and their likes and dislikes

  11. G.I. Joe Group • Teacher will form a literacy group providing students with a list of africanamerican and hispanic YA authors • Each week the students will take turns giving a summation of the chapters they have read in their particular book and how they relate to it

  12. G.I. Joe Group • Students will complete exercises to strengthen their comprehension • Students will complete exercises to strengthen their command of grammar in regards to writing.
