    3. Lockers & Transportation Lockers Assigned at the beginning of school from homeroom teacher. Student needs to bring two locks for the year Main locker & Gym Locker Drop-off/Pick-up Drop-off and pick-up is behind the building near cafeteria Students wait in the cafeteria until dismissed to homeroom Bus questions contact transportation 851-6447

    4. Lunch Time $2.05 6th graders have the first lunch of the day (11:07-11:46 a.m.) Assigned seating according to homeroom Lunch line and Snack line Student Account (debit system) or cash Must stay in their seat

Academics Honor roll requirements First Honor Roll = A- or higher in all classes (B- in Phys Ed accepted) Second Honor Roll = B- or higher in all classes (C- in Phys Ed accepted) Gifted and Talented program continues Honors classes in 8th gradestudent will need straight As in 7th grade in the subject area, teacher recommendation, and advanced proficient on NJ ASK

Academics Grade 6 chapter books, monster outlines, and essays are continuing Proficiencies are on the website in the Superintendents bulletin board www.twpunionschools.org Teacher web pagesupdated daily or weekly with homework assignments, reading assignments, projects (on Kawameeh web site)

    8. TESTING Proficiency testing Mid-year and end-of-year All subjects NJ ASK State Testing End of April/beginning of May Sometimes begins day after Spring Break!

Parent Portal Register for Genesis to see: Grades (running averages, individual assignments, quizzes and tests, marking period grades and final grades) Report Cards (for current year) Attendance Current schedule Discipline Record (for current year) Emergency contact information and email addresses Basic school information (grade, homeroom, etc)

    10. Handbook/Planner Complimentary from PTA Rules, information, personnel, time schedule, expectations, co-curricular activities, sports, etc. Monthly and daily planner Maps, conversion tables, grammar and math tips, quotes, vocabulary wordsetc.

    11. Clubs, Sports, School Nurse Clubs are held after school Students cannot join a sports team until 7th grade. Tryouts will be held because teams are combined with Burnet students. Proof of a completed medical physical must be presented before student is eligible for tryouts and/or participation. School Nurse Administers all medications. Students taking any medication must present the prescription bottle to the nurse and the medication must be administered by the nurse.

    15. The Transition 5th to 6th Youngest/smallest at school From 2 or 3 teachers to 7 different teachers Changing classes. There are 3 minutes between classes. Students cannot be late. Not always able to go to locker. Bigger school Personal Changes Physical Emotional Mental Social Familial Some students will take longer to acclimate. (See handout for helpful suggestions.)
