  5. AWS Mission Statement Army Welfare Service “To provide a comprehensive, professional, and confidential welfare support service, responsive to the needs of individuals, families and the chain of command, in order to maximise operational effectiveness of servicemen and women”.

CONFIDENTIALITY CODE Army Welfare Service • All AWS personnel are required to comply to the confidentiality code. • Apart from exceptional circumstances: • Risk of harm to themselves or others • To prevent a serious criminal act • If there is or likely to be, a breach of National Security • A serious contravention of military law • If a soldier is no longer fit to carry out his/her duty

  8. WORK UNDERTAKEN BY THE PERSONAL SUPPORT GROUPS Army Welfare Service 1. Child Protection Work. Statutory responsibility for child protection matters within UK is the responsibility of Local Authority Social Work Departments. Child Protection Conferences attended by various agencies and chaired by Independent S/W.

  9. Army Welfare Service 2. Work With Adult Survivors of Abuse. • Emotional, Physical, Sexual • 1 in 3 children live in poverty in the UK • Child Sexual Abuse - 50 % females • Child Sexual Abuse - 25% males 3. Relationship Work. • Married and other partners
