  5. God is light • – Malachi 4:1 "behold the day is coming, burning like an oven all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up "the Sun of Righteousness shall arise. With healing in his wings; and you shall go out and grow fat like stall fed calves." • Malachi presents a contrast. The wicked are consumed by the heat. The righteous received healing from the same source of heat.

  6. God is light 1 John 1:5 "this is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.” Darkness in Him is not ;not one

  10. Making contact • Matthew 5:14-16 “you are the light of the world……..let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.“ • "We cannot shine a light on another's path without illuminating our own !"

Dispelling darkness • The best way to dispel darkness is to admit light. • The best way to dispel error is to study Truth • Spiritual distractions • John 8:12 then Jesus spoke to them saying "I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the Light of life.“ • John 16:13 Jesus assured His disciples that “when He the spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth.”

  12. Attributes of darkness • Low life forms that live in darkness are repulsive • Decay progresses rapidly • Darkness prevents spiritual growth • Darkness of sin destroys spiritual sight

  13. Rejecting light • 1 John 1:6 "if we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.“ • Ephesians 5:11-13 "and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.

Rejecting light • Isaiah 5:20 "woe unto them that… Put darkness for light and light for darkness." • John 3:19,20 "and this is the condemnation that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.“ • Darkness 2013

We should carefully guard the sight of our eyes and the hearing of our ears, so that these awful things shall not enter our minds. When the daily newspaper comes into the house, I feel as if I wanted to hide it, that the ridiculous, sensational things in it may not be seen. It seems as if the enemy is at the foundation of the publishing of many things that appear in the newspapers. Every sinful thing that can be found is uncovered and laid bare before the world." 3SM211

  16. Rejecting light • What does spiritual darkness look like in 2013 • Internet can be an awesome tool, and, it can be a great source of darkness. • addictions • television , movies[darkness?], violent video games, ? News? • satanwants to come into our homes and replace light with darkness

Paul’s admonition Galatians 5:19 “Works of the flesh are evident,adultery, fornication, uncleanliness, lewdness, sorcery,hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, envy, murder, drunkenness…. Those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Philippians 4:8 “whatever things are true, whatever things are noble,, just, pure lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue if there is anything praiseworthy--- think on these things.”

John 8:12 then Jesus spoke to them saying "I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the Light of life.“

  19. Accepting / reflecting light • Isaiah 42:16 “I will lead the blind by ways they have not known… I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth.”

  20. Accepting / reflecting light "It is the privilege of the Christian to connect with the Source of light, and through this living connection become the light of the world. Christ’s true followers will walk in the light as He is in the light and therefore they will not travel in an uncertain way stumbling because they walk in darkness….As the light of the sun chases away the shade of night and pours its glories on valleys and hills, so will the Christians reflect the Sun of Righteousness which shine’s on him."TDG92
