  10. HAND LENS Hand lenses are the basic magnifier for many earth science field studies. Geologists, biologists, entomologists, and others use them to make quick identification of small distinguishing features which would otherwise be too small to see with the unaided eye.

  22. METER STICK Science relies on careful and precise measurements. The easiest way to measure length is to use a ruler or a meter stick. Meter sticks are typically 1 m long (100 cm). The stick is divided by centimeters and millimeters. Measurements with a meter stick can therefore measure things as small as 1 mm.

  28. DOUBLE PAN BALANCE A double-pan balance is a scale which has 2 pans that are balanced against each other. The scale functions like a see-saw, with each of the 2 pans attached to a centered pivot point.
