  1. OEA Backup and Disaster recovery Collect data from 20 field server using Microsoft DFSR. Each Field server has Shadow Copy enable for data drives. DFSR server has also Shadow Copy enabled.

  2. DFS replication

  3. DFS replication (cont.) • Windows 2008 R2 virtual server • Attached is a 600GB SAN partition • For each Field Office we have a replication group that contains the Field server and the DFSR server. Each field office has it’s assigned folder. • Bandwidth is throttled: 256KB/s during regular business hours and 2MB/s outside business hours.

  4. Backup Exec 2010 R3 • Backup to Disk external device - IdealstorTeralyte 4000-TLYTE-4RSA: • Rack mountable • Uses SATA interface. Idealstor asked what server we are using and they shipped the SATA card to fit that server.

  5. It has 4 Ejectable bays using 2TB hard drives. • We have about 9 sets of disk drives. 6 are offsite and 3 are in house. • Weekly backup are kept offsite for 6 weeks and reused when they come back.

  6. All drives have barcode for easy inventory. • Generate your own color labels at http://www.mytapelabels.com/ • Use Avery 6577 labels. • B2D folders in Backupexec have been renamed to match the label on the front of the drive. This way when a restore is needed Backup exec will request the drive and we know what to ask from Iron Mountain.

  7. In addition we have an USB drive that backs up weekly the email store. This allows us to restore emails quickly going 1 year back.
