    2. Performance Improvement Mapping Performance Improvement Mapping (PIM) is an intensive, data-driven, results-oriented school planning model. The PIM process was developed by the Massachusetts Department of Education (MA DOE) to assist districts in need of improvement in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics.

    3. The PIM process is designed to help school districts: Set goals to align with state and federal expectations for adequate yearly progress (AYP) and improved student performance Analyze student assessment data to determine student strengths and weaknesses Identify the specific skills that students lack Analyze the root causes of low student performance Appraise current practices to determine what is and is not working Select new research-based strategies Evaluate implementation and outcomes

Review of Mathematics Data Overall improvements at each grade level Every grade-level is making forward progress PCIS and PSHS students have made significant gains in the last three years for the SpEd subgroup Positive Initiatives Extended Day programs (K 8) One-on-one tutoring (High School) Problem Solving & Applications course (Grades 7 & 8) Increased inclusion of special education students at PSHS Job-embedded math content PD for MSNs at PCIS

Review & Revision of Action Plan Based on data analysis the action plan was revised with a focus on: Service delivery for special education students & PD in math content & instruction for MSNs Implementation & evaluation of new elementary math program Problem solving Vocabulary Concrete to abstract instructional strategies Fraction/Decimal/Percent

    8. Plymouths Improvement Objectives for Math Teachers will provide direct instruction in problem solving, including applying reading strategies to mathematics. The District will provide professional development in math content, differentiated instruction, and indicators of math disabilities. The IEP Team meeting will ensure its decision on MCAS administration will reflect the students needs in order for him/her to demonstrate his/her knowledge. Administrators will explore alternative methods of scheduling to guarantee that all students are in appropriate math classes and have access to supplemental services (Title I, Remedial math, extended day) when needed.

    9. Plymouths Improvement Objectives for Math Students will be provided with direct instruction in defining and comprehending math vocabulary and increased opportunity to use this vocabulary appropriately. Students will have increased opportunities to explore concrete foundations of abstract concepts. Students will have increased opportunities to see multiple representations/orientations of math concepts. Students will have increased opportunities to practice and apply fraction, decimal, and percent concepts and integrate these concepts within other topics.

    10. Plymouths Improvement Objectives for ELA Teachers will provide students with explicit instruction in comprehension strategies and increased opportunities to apply them independently. Teachers will provide students with increased opportunities to read and analyze a wide variety of text from different genres. Students will have increased exposure to and application of rich vocabulary including words with multiple meaning. Teachers will provide students with explicit writing instruction with increased emphasis on topic development and increased opportunities to engage in process writing.

Plymouths Improvement Objectives for ELA The District will continue to develop a comprehensive assessment model that utilizes a variety of measures to determine student performance and monitor progress. The District will investigate current ELA delivery models (remedial services, literacy block components) and make scheduling recommendations. The District will provide teachers with information regarding current MCAS expectations and associated instructional strategies. The District will provide professional development to support ELA instruction that improves student learning.

    14. Cyclical Evaluation The PIM process will provide us with data for future decisions regarding curriculum & instruction The PIM process will be an annual process to inform the school/district of modifications needed to improvement plans based the evidence gathered
