  2. Assignment 2

  3. Lintel This lintel is in an office building in Bird Road and 130 Ave. It is a stucco work above the window.

  4. Pilaster I think everyone has seen the Turnpike’s screen walls, well it has pilaster all over it.

  5. Load Bearing Wall Near Chrome I found some houses in construction, it is not existing yet but after the construction is over there will be a load bearing wall because it will be receiving the load of the second story on these columns.

  6. Live Load Everything that is not structural or fixed to the structure is a live load, in this case all these people including me, are the live load of this place. Location Airlines Arena at downtown.

  7. Fenestration This residential structure is around 127 and 8 street, fenestration is the formal name for the windows found in the envelope of a building.

  8. Screen Block Better than that I found a screen wall made with these blocks around 127 Ave and 68 street.

  9. Running Bond Structural running bond. That is a wall of an abandoned house in construction around 130 Ave.

  10. Expansion Joint in Terrazzo Flooring It is a little bit difficult to identify the joints on the floor because of the reflection but it can still be seen. American Airlines Arena.

  11. Balustrade Same picture at the AAA. The side panels of the escalator are the balustrades and they are made of tempered glass.

  12. Tread depth and Riser height. Shopping Center in Kendall. Tread: 11” Riser: 7-1/4” They do meet the code.

  17. Potable Water Here is the supply line for the potable water at my cousin’s house.

  18. Branch Line & Shutoff Valve I looked for humongous branch lines and shutoff valves. These are for emergencies in case of fire and may also be connected with the piping system inside this shopping center in Kendall.

  19. ADA Compliant Sink P-trap I found a lavatory that complies with ADA code. This is the Handicap restroom at a medical center in Kendall.
